We are proud to share that Korthals Group B.V., hereinafter referred to as the Korthals Group, has been certified according to the international ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards. The certification applies to all subsidiaries: HIM Products B.V., Soen’s Meubelbeitsen B.V. and Lakfabriek Korthals B.V.. This important milestone marks our commitment to quality and sustainability, and our ongoing dedication to providing customers and stakeholders with high-quality and responsible products.
Robert Woerdeman, owner of the Korthals Group, looks back on the certification process with satisfaction. “The ISO 9001 certificate emphasizes our focus on quality in every aspect of our production process. For customers, the certificate serves as an important quality guarantee. Among other things, it underlines that our formulations are carefully checked and consistently executed. In short, that the Korthals Group always delivers the same high-quality products. It also means that customers can count on professional guidance, from the moment they place an order until the final delivery.”
ISO 14001 is the international standard with requirements for an environmental management system. Achieving ISO 14001 certification on top of ISO 9001 felt like a logical next step, adds Ron Fransen, operations manager at the Korthals Group. “It confirms our commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability. It shows that we understand the environmental risks that can arise from our business activities and that we are able to manage them effectively.”
The Korthals Group has been championing sustainable solutions in product development for quite some time. For example, lead-containing coatings and lacquers were phased out years ago. In addition, the Korthals Group believes in a solvent-free future. To illustrate: water-based variants have been developed for the entire product portfolio that are qualitatively just as good as the solvent-based products.
As part of ISO 14001, the Korthals Group reports on the environmental aspects of all business activities and actively creates awareness around sustainability among customers and stakeholders.
The Korthals Group sees the achieved ISO certifications as a stepping stone to further achievements. Ron: “As a future-oriented company, we are also working on becoming an ARIE company. This process involves additional risk inventories and evaluations to optimize the internal safety and quality of our working methods. We are already well advanced in the certification process and expect a successful audit in the third quarter.”
Earlier, the Korthals Group already focused on automation with partner Collabite B.V. (formerly De Computerwacht B.V.). “This has not only led to a structural acceleration of our work processes but also benefits quality,” says Ron. “Think of it as a form of process monitoring. For instance, an order only gets the green light when the quality mark and certificate documentation are in order.”
Many thanks to Kroon Organisatie Advies, KPD consultants, and BMD Advies for their support during the certification process.
