Different types of color-changing paints for different needs

• Temperature-sensitive color-changing paint: This paint changes color when a certain temperature range is exceeded for a specific period. Korthals’ temperature-sensitive paint, Therm-O-Signal (TOS), is developed for (petro)chemical installations and related applications where temperature monitoring is crucial. The product makes decreasing insulation on the inner walls visible, allowing for more targeted, timely, and cost-effective maintenance (planned shutdown instead of meltdown). Additionally, this method is more reliable than thermal cameras and data loggers, which depend on a power supply and can only monitor a limited temperature range.
• Hydrogen fluoride color-changing paint: Korthals’ KB hydrogen fluoride color-changing paint is designed to change color upon exposure to hydrogen fluoride, a commonly used acid in the process industry. The paint makes leaks from valves, pipes, and reaction vessels virtually immediately visible. This allows operators to know immediately what’s going on and prevents the release of hydrogen fluoride from reaching disastrous proportions. The necessary safety protocols within the company can thus be activated quickly.
