The primary functions of tank coatings

Tank coatings are particularly useful in the process industry, especially in petrochemicals. A selection of the possibilities:

Coating the outside of the tank wall offers several advantages. By applying a sealed paint film, the underlying surface is better protected against external influences and rust formation;
There are industrial tank coatings for applying a thermal insulation layer to reduce potential temperature losses;
Finally, in addition to coatings that protect the tank itself, there are also tank coatings that protect and have a signaling function. Consider coatings that change color at certain temperatures. If the surface of the tank is at risk of becoming too hot, operators will notice this quickly because the outer paint layer changes color and thus emits a warning signal.

Finding a suitable tank coating

When selecting a suitable tank coating, your applications and business processes must be central. We are happy to assist you in this area. Some relevant questions when selecting the right tank coating:

What metal is the surface to be coated made of? This information is important during coating and for achieving optimal adhesion;
Is the tank exposed to harsh conditions? For outdoor use and offshore applications, protection against salt water, rain, frost, and UV radiation is desired, for example, and a primer is recommended for optimal corrosion resistance. This advice also applies to use in damp indoor areas;
Does the coating need to be heat-resistant? For high(er) temperature storage, special heat-resistant coatings are often applied.

A tank coating is generally applied as a spray coating, but can also be applied with a brush and roller.
