When company premises or public facilities are daubed, it is obviously an unpleasant sensation. Something you would prefer to avoid. The application of an anti-graffiti coating offers a solution in such situations. This type of coating is available in two variants: permanent and semi-permanent. The permanent version has by far the most advantages. Find out what they are here.
Semi-permanent and permanent anti-graffiti coatings differ in composition and therefore also in effect.
Semi-permanent anti-graffiti coatings consist of a wax layer, which acts as an intermediate layer. This type of coating is based on a self-sacrificing principle. The intermediate layer prevents graffiti from sticking to the direct substrate. Instead, the graffiti adheres to the coating itself. If the soiled surface is cleaned with warm water, the graffiti will be washed off, but the protective layer will also disappear. After removing the graffiti you have to apply a new protective coating. A labour-intensive and costly affair.
A permanent anti-graffiti coating is a larger investment, but has a much more structural character. This type of coating requires significantly less maintenance. The coating penetrates deep into the substrate and does not come off during the cleaning process. The coating does not have to be reapplied after cleaning. The graffiti can be removed easily (and several times if necessary) without the risk of damaging the substrate.
Because of their qualities of use and operation, semi-permanent anti-graffiti coatings are generally applied to objects and facades of buildings with a low to medium risk of graffiti.
Permanent anti-graffiti coatings are mainly applied when objects and buildings are more than average exposed to vandalism. These include bridge sections, tunnels, power station buildings and the facades of commercial and public buildings.
What both types of coatings do have in common is the dissuasive effect they have. The graffiti artist will immediately realize that he is dealing with a pre-treated surface. The graffiti does not adhere as well and soon shows drip marks. This makes spraying more difficult and makes the creation of such street art almost impossible.
